Having followed Short Wave on Instagram for some time, I was pleased as punch to check them out when I finally made it to Astoria. I have since returned multiple times and it is somehow even cuter in person! They have so many unique goodies whether shopping for a gift or yourself: prints and other artwork, stationary, ceramics (including such cute mugs), art supplies (indigenous handmade paints!), bath and body items (Wato soap, yes please!), housewares, treats, adorable accessories and clothing, etc. Many items are local, too! They are always really friendly and nice in the shop, and it’s just such a pleasure to wander. I honestly think my mom, sisters, and I nearly spent an hour there. If you can, time it so you can check out the Sunday Astoria Farmers market while there. Parking is not great as it’s right in the middle of downtown Astoria, but that’s just the nature of the beast, and worth it!

My favorite shop in Astoria. I pop in a couple times a month at least and always find something new to love. Recent purchases include a beautiful glass vase, perfect enamel soap dish, linen cocktail napkins, and durable and adorable bookmarks. Ari is always looking for the best essentials, clothing and gifts to elevate everyday living, and does it with an eye toward sourcing and sustainability. Love it!

I fell in love with the curation and merchandising of this shop in Astoria. The focus on PNW artisans, buy-for-life, sustainable garments shines through the assortment in the shop. We stopped in randomly during our day trip from Portland and it turned into one of the highlights of our visit. My wife and I were already shopping the website on our way home and will be putting an order in soon. Even on the website I can feel the thoughtfulness of the owner in the product details and blog posts. Can't wait to come back to visit next time we are in Astoria.

Such a lovely shop with a great variety! I came in to browse and ended up buying candles, a hat, paints, caramels, and a pair of earrings. Definitely a must-stop if you’re visiting Astoria!

I was in search of a specific notebook, no local store near me here in Texas had in stock so I took to Google to search. It took me to this little shop in Oregon and I am so glad it did. I immediately bought what I was looking for, unfortunately there was some issues with shipping but Ari the shop owner was on it after I emailed them my concerns. They went above and beyond and I appreciate it so much. I am looking forward to buying again from ShortWave!

I live in Portland and Short Wave is one of those stores that stick in my mind even when I am not in Astoria. I always make it a point to stop here when I am in town, it is so cute and perfect. Sometimes tiny curated stores can feel intimidating, but Short Wave is quite the opposite. It's the perfect place to go for a small gift or an outfit staple. You can find items that are super affordable and durable - my two favorite beanies are from Short Wave and they get a lot of use and are still in top shape and I think they were like $22 each. A lot of locally made products as well!!!! Anyway, I could go on and on, but I am glad cute, thoughtful shops like this still exist, Short Wave is one of the best :-)!

This place is fun! I found so many goodies for my desk and some lovely scents for around my house. Their pnw incense selection and candles are lovely. So different than a lot of other places. Beanies looked super comfy and I’ll be back for one in the winter for sure. Super friendly staff and warm atmosphere.

Short Wave is one of my favorite shops in any town I’ve ever visited in the world. Astoria is very lucky to have it. The curation and quality of every good sold keeps me coming back every single time I’m in town. I love buying gifts for my girl friends who aren’t the easiest to buy for and the gifts through the years have run the gamut…tool boxes, earrings, candies, socks, sharp-as-hell knives, stationary… and they’re always a hit. I also commonly come away with something for myself and when I do, it’s highly complemented when it’s clothing. I’m currently burning a candle from Short Wave and it’s such a beautiful scent. If my husband knows what’s up, he’ll be buying gifts for me here (hey, Alex!). To the owner… small business is hard and can be soul sucking. I hope you know how incredible I think your shop is and I hope you continue it for many years to come!

I placed an online order with a shipping question, and Ari—the owner—was not only incredibly prompt with a response, but also so kind and so helpful. If her online presence is anything like the in-store experience she provides, then Short Wave is a must if you're in Astoria!

Fantastic woman-owned shop in downtown Astoria. Great place for gifts, most of which are made in Oregon. I bought a tunic sweater here last year and it quickly became one of my favorite pieces. This year, I opted to do an online order and in-store pickup (curbside is also available) of an adorable container made from recycled skateboards. Will be back again whenever we are in the area!
